I was born in Chicago and raised in Seattle but I have called Kirkland my home for the past 30+ years. I am deeply committed to keeping Greater Kirkland family friendly and making sure visitors always feel welcome. Walking around the downtown area 3 to 4 times a week this is what I see. I love the area. Kirkland is such a neat place to work and to live. I am also an avid Kirkland volunteer.
In the Fall I volunteer for the annual Octoberfest and there are always 5k and 10k races to help with. In the Winter I volunteer to help decorate the town for Christmas; lights, wreaths and garlands, and there are always the races to help with. In the spring there is the Easter egg hunt. In the Summer I help out with Summerfest one of the biggest festivals of the year and the "Taste of Kirkland", a wine tasting event. When I am not working, or volunteering I am out walking or running around Kirkland. If you see me say Hello !
For years I have been a competitive runner; 5 and 10k distances with a few half marathons thrown in. While I still enjoy these runs I find the walking speed just as satisfying, and the slower pace is of course much easier on my legs.
I have another passion as well. I have had a long standing commitment to a mental health organization that trains professionals who address early childhood issues such as preventing child abuse. While not on the board, I have designated both time and money to help them achieve their goals. Over the years I have been more than pleased to see them succeed.
